The Virtual FD is designed to extend the role of an accountant from ‘trusted advisor’ to a more proactive guide to financial management and capability. The service aims to identify threats and opportunities, and use forensic analysis to help determine decision-making within your organisation. The scope of each assignment may be broad, but typically the below are particular areas of interest:

  • Profitability. Scenario building to assess impact on margins and operating profits, using alternative product/service or process strategies. 
  • KPIs. Collate appropriate performance measures that are important to you, and relevant to your industry, and assess these with you, benchmarking to what is expected. 
  • Cost management. Building and reviewing processes that track costs at an activity level
  • Technology. Assessing whether your current systems are sufficient for what you want to achieve, and proposing alternatives with reference to budgets. An IT roadmap is important for a growing business to develop, to avoid unexpected restructuring costs in the future.
  • Acquisition or exit strategy. Business valuation is a key factor in these assignments, and we can offer you valuation options with different models, explaining the rationale adopted. Most purchases or sales are rarely quick, and they require scrutiny from both sides. If looking to sell or raise funds, we can offer guidance within the ‘grooming’ period to help you understand whether you are sale or investment ready.
